CLASSES
Studio Zanaganda offers small group classes in traditional drawing & painting on a rotating basis with about 8 artists. Primary topic is portraiture, with occasional adventures into figure and still life. The best way to be notified of new class is the mailing list.
COLOR
JULY 18 - 19, 10-5pm
*Due to the specificity of the work:
MATERIALS, including oil paint colors, WILL BE PROVIDED.
You will come away from this highly focused workshop with a better command over your oil painting palette and an understanding of how to utilize color in your work. Elizabeth will present and break down the intuitive systems she uses for a variety of subjects into more digestible, understandable material.
This fantastic opportunity will exclusively focus on exploring color in paint: relative values, controlling chromaticity, and how different oil pigments interact with each other across the spectrum available to the artist. Lecturettes will include presentation on various systems available to artists, like the Munsell & Fletcher color systems.
Some of the workshop will be devoted to creating reference materials for yourself. The first half of the class will concern ourselves with how paint color relates to value, hue & temperature relationships. The second part of the weekend will explore contrasts: opacity, system application, and general color theory. We will finish with some actionable steps and samples to take forward with you into your next series of works.
