STUDIO RULES
The common and kitchen area is available to all visitors of 2927 Newbury, and the microwave, fridge, dishes, etc. are for everyone’s use. Please be respectful of the common space, and respectful of other businesses who occupy space here. No loud noise in the common area, clean up after yourself, and put everything away that you use. Trash and Recycling are in the back. Doors to the outside must remain locked. If you need to temporarily leave the building, check with Elizabeth.
NO knives, sharpies, pens, paint or other permanently damaging implements on the work tables, walls and chairs in the common area or you will be directly responsible for their replacement or repair.

Active Participation

To get the most out of your time students are expected to actively participate in their own education. While Elizabeth can provide a wealth of knowledge and advice based on her own experience, improvement only comes through personal motivation, dedication, and self-troubleshooting skills. Elizabeth presents information to help you, but acknowledges there is no set path to excellence as an artist. One of the biggest assets you can gain as an artist is self-motivation. Elizabeth is here to partner with your goals, but not paint the painting for you.

Respect and Empathy

Studio Zanaganda is positive and mutually supportive environment, focused on skill development. The study of painting and drawing can bring up feelings of frustration and self doubt in all of us at times, which means it is important that we treat one another with exceptional respect, patience, and kindness. Any problem a student is experiencing should addressed directly to the instructor, with respect.

Headphones

Students get significant benefit from overhearing instruction given to other students, so we encourage students to reserve headphone use to times when there is no active instruction.

Cell Phones

Phones must be silenced in the studio at all times. All calls must be sent to voicemail, to be returned in the common area. Do not answer phone calls during active class time.

Photos and Videos

Using cameras, phones or mobile devices for video or photos in our studio is not allowed.

• Do not photograph models under any circumstances.

• When a model is posing on the stand don’t touch your camera or cell phone at all.

• Some instructors do allow the use of cameras in their classes, but assume a “no photos, no videos” policy unless the instructor states clearly otherwise. Even in a workshop, photographing a model must be cleared with the instructor and with the Atelier before the class begins.

• Students are allowed to take photos of their own artwork or an instructor’s artwork, but NOT when a model is posing.
