CLASSES
Studio Zanaganda offers sem-private classes (see below) geared mostly towards portrait drawing and painting on a rotating basis with about 8 artists. Availability is sporadic and announced through my mailing list. An example of my teaching style can be found on the Workshops page.
STILL LIFE
January 3,4 & 10,11
10-5pm Saturdays & Sundays
Join us as we all recover from the busy-ness of the holiday season with two weeks of contemplative still life work. Workshop has been extended to meet over 2 weekends for 4 full days of painting and learning!
We will focus on developing personal artwork from direct observation. Students can bring in their own objects or choose from a selection at the studio. We will begin with a lecture on the important components of good painting design, and then use the still life genre as a method for implementation of key concepts. Discussion topics will focus on solid drawing, composition, design, color control, edges, and efficiency.
The art of creating a still life brings a variety of aesthetic challenges together. Composition, color, rhythm, drawing, relationships, focus, depth of field - so many ways to engage with representational work!
Saturday & Sunday 10-5pm (4 days total)
Beginner - Advanced, Drawing or Painting
Limited to 8 artists
LONG POSE
Sundays, Oct 5 - Nov 23, 4:00-8:00pm
8-week costumed pose with Sierra
For beginning students, Elizabeth will walk you through the foundations of the academic process of drawing and painting the figure from life. Due to small class size, you will be able to develop and target level-appropriate goals for your current artistic development. Drawing is strongly recommended for students seeking to gain control over this crucial stage of the process.
For long-term and advanced painting students, emphasis will be placed on pushing your painting further through aesthetic and technical choices to create a successful final impression of our sitter.
Each evening will feature a 3-hour sitting in the same pose for 8 weeks. Class includes 30 mins of setup and discussion time at beginning and end of session.
Elizabeth will develop a painting alongside the class in order to better demonstrate key concepts and techniques involved in a multi-session painting.
