Our focus will be on the academic approach to figure drawing and painting! The major emphasis will be on how to interrelate the different forms of the body to create beautiful compositions and intentionally designed figurative work.

The series will host 3 Sunday sessions (3-4 hrs each) with the same model in the same pose. I will do some lecture, light demo, suggest homework, and provide feedback during the course.

The challenge of the academic figure is that in unlocks a more structural sense of the human body, with many rich opportunities to explore anatomy, rhythm, rendering, and form.

My figure approach is from years of atelier work: so emphasis will be on design accuracy, likeness, sound anatomy and strong gesture, and convincing form & light.
